Why Would You Want To Shop Online?
Online Shopping is a convenient way to make your purchase from the comfort of your home, right to the moment when the postman or courier man arrives with your item(s).
You can also purchase products that are not readily available in your country or area, (provided it is an item acceptable by Law, ya sorry no guns or illegal drugs or human organs), and if you are into Korean Fashion Wear, Qoo10 (Gmarket) Singapore have a wide range of sellers that you can check out, for the Latest and Trendiest Korean Fashion and also fashion wear from local sellers and other regions as well.
Check these out :
And of course you can also avoid certain physical risks, like being knocked down by a car (touchwood) or getting kidnapped at the mall (joke).
But you do not really have to lead a Hermit’s life by hiding at home and do your online shopping all day (Although Online Shopping could really be addictive!). You could even do your online shopping while on the move.
Find out how you can do your shopping on mobile here.
And if you are really stuck at home because you need to be isolated from your peers (chickenpox, aww…) or because there is a heavy rain outside (or snow!?), you can still socialise with your friends and share your great findings via Facebook or Twitter, and you can even make some bucks doing so.
Read more about how to make some bucks by introducing your friends here.
If you want to go out in the rain, you really got to look at this, Auto-Open and Closing Umbrella, how cool is that?
Ok, maybe not so cool, but if you want to look cool, there are Fashionable Rain coats too! Check these out!
Although you might not be easily robbed when you stay at home, (if you need to secure your home from break-ins, check out these Home security gadgets) there are still certain preventive measures you have to be aware of, when you do your shopping online.
Tips And Precautions For A Safe And Enjoyable Online Shopping Experience
Beware of Phishing or Fake Sites and Emails
When you want to check out a website for your online shopping needs, make sure that you are in the REAL website and not a fake phishing site set up by identity thieves.
For example, if you want to go to the Qoo10 (Gmarket) Singapore website, make sure that the top address bar of your web browser shows “www.qoo10.com.sg” or “www.gmarket.com.sg“, or its equivalent.
It should end with “qoo10.com.sg” or “gmarket.com.sg” before the “/” if there are other address parameters, ie. list.gmarket.com.sg, list.qoo10.com.sg, etc.
Here’s the list of Qoo10’s current website for all regions :
- Qoo10.com (Qoo10 Global Hub)
- Qoo10.com.my (Qoo10 Malaysia)
- Qoo10.com.jp (Qoo10 Japan)
- Qoo10.co.id (Qoo10 Indonesia)
- Qoo10.cn (Qoo10 China)
- Qoo10.com.hk (Qoo10 Hong Kong)
- Qoo10.com.sg (Qoo10 Singapore)
The identity thief could set up a site that looks and behaves exactly the same as the original Qoo10’s website, by using a domain name (website name) that is a variation of “Qoo10” to deceive you. ie.
- Qooo10 (note: extra “o”)
- Qo100 (note: 1 missing “o”, but an extra “Zero”)
- Ooo10 (note: a capital “O” instead of “Q”)
- Qoo1O (note: the Zero is replaced by a capital “O”)
- gmaket (note: missing “r”)
- and many other variations, and you could help everyone by listing them out in the comment box below
Choosing The Right Seller
You can check out the seller’s rating or go through comments and Customer Reviews left by buyers. Although this could also be rigged (fake, ie. the seller writing these themselves), but we have to trust Qoo10 that they would pick their Sellers carefully and filter out those dishonest sellers.
You can also do your part by reporting sellers that you think are dishonest. You can find the Report button on the left of the screen.
You should also find out about their return policy in case of defective items, by looking at the “Shop Info“. Towards the top left of the screen, click on the Seller’s name, and then you can find the seller’s Info Button somewhere on the top part of the seller’s page.
Payments and Qoo10 Escrow Service
Usually, there are already some form of Buyers’ Protection if you pay by Credit Cards. Find out more from your Credit Card Company.
If you are too young to own a credit card, there are other payment options that Qoo10 provides to protect your transaction.
BUT, IF YOU ARE REALLY Young, like 5 years old or something, please get your Parents’ or Guardians’ permission BEFORE even clicking the BUY Now button.
If you are really (around) 5 years old, and have read this far, firstly, I would like to Thank You for your support and interest in finding out how to protect your (parents’) investment, and I would also want to congratulate your parents for having such a genius who, not only have interest in this topic, but also the patience to read all my text!!

There are 5 ways you can do your payment :
- Paypal Express Checkout
If you have a registered Paypal account, you can make your payment for the items via Paypal. Find out more about signing up for a personal Paypal account or a Merchant’s Paypal account here. - Credit Card (Master Card or VISA)
It is the fastest and safest way to pay, as mentioned earlier. - Qoo10-Protected Cash Transfer
You can perform your funds transfer Online or Offline if you do not have a credit card or any other methods of payment - Real Time Cash Transfer via I-Banking or e-Nets
If you have an internet Banking (i-banking) account with DBS, POSB, UOB or CitiBank, you can transfer your funds with the i-banking or e-Nets option. Find out more about e-Nets here. - Q-Account (Cash Balance)
If you have cash balance in your Qoo10 account, you can use these for your payments.
When you pay using Paypal, credit card or bank transfer via the online payment options, the payment is held by Qoo10 Escrow Service and the funds is only released it to the seller based on the buyer’s confirmation that the sale and delivery has been completed.
If there is a dispute over item delivery or conditions of the item received, Qoo10 may investigate and resolve the dispute.
This is one of the Main method that Qoo10 helps to reduce frauds and gives the buyers their satisfaction and protection!
Shipment And Registered Mails with Tracking Number Option
You should also find out the expected delivery duration, and also read the comments from previous buyers if they are satisfied with the time taken for the item to arrive.
For added protection, you should also opt for registered mail with tracking id if the seller provides the option. If you are buying a “big ticket” or expensive item, you should consider paying the extra for your own protection (although most items listed in Qoo10 are not too expensive).
If you find these tips useful, do share it with your friends via the Facebook Like or Share option and Twitter too.
